EQUICARES at the Joint Clinical Workshop: Advancing Innovative Technologies for Brain Health

On April 24, 2025, the EU-funded 2D-BioPAD, MUNASET, COMFORTage and EQUICARES projects came together to host a joint workshop focused on fostering collaboration and exploring synergies in brain health research & innovation (R&I).

The event underscored the urgent global challenges posed by dementia, frailty and mental health disorders, conditions that are already affecting millions of people and are expected to worsen dramatically unless effective mitigation measures are taken.

The workshop, moderated by Q-PLAN, brought together experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals to present and discuss their work under the four projects. Attendees explored the clinical applications of the innovative technologies being developed, with a particular focus on diagnostics, monitoring, and accessibility to healthcare services. Technologies such as Pointof-Care In-Vitro Diagnostics and Artificial Intelligence were central to the discussions, along with the clinical pilots and studies underway in each project.

Participants had the opportunity to identify convergence points among the projects, which could lead to enhanced collaboration among involved stakeholders through knowledge-sharing, datasharing, benchmarking of outcomes, and organising joint events.

This joint workshop highlighted the importance of greater cooperation among EU-funded projects on brain health R&I. Such partnerships not only advance research and innovation through mutual support and collaboration but also ensure that promising R&I outcomes have a viable and sustainable future in real-world clinical applications. All projects have renewed their rendezvous for next year, with the promise to invite more projects and initiatives.
