Prof. Dr. Hakan S. Orer

Prof. Dr. Hakan S. Orer contributes a multidisciplinary expertise spanning bioethics, pharmacology, clinical trials, and preclinical drug development. His service in prominent national and international ethics bodies—including membership in UNESCO’s International Bioethics Committee—has established him as a highly regarded authority on complex ethical issues, particularly those related to biomedical research and clinical investigations.
Dr. Jeff Moore

Dr. Jeff Moore is a Research Director at Jigsaw – The National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Ireland, where he provides strategic leadership for research and evaluation. His work focuses on generating evidence-based insights to inform decision-making, improve service outcomes, and drive innovation within youth mental health services. With nearly two decades of experience in implementing, researching, and evaluating global best practices in primary care mental health, he has played a pivotal role in shaping research and data strategies for both IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) in the UK and Jigsaw in Ireland. His expertise lies in implementation and action research within community-based mental health services, with a strong focus on service transformation and data-driven decision-making. At Jigsaw, he has led the development of Ireland’s leading youth mental health data system and introduced innovative data governance policies. His role also involves leading research initiatives, fostering collaborations on the implementation and effectiveness of youth mental health services, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Dr. Moore is an active member of several national working groups and serves on the National Research Ethics Committee, bringing extensive experience in research ethics review and adherence to national and EU regulations. His published peer-reviewed research covers topics such as childhood adversity, resilience, and youth mental health service implementation and evaluation, with an impact factor ranging from 2.16 to 3.19. Additionally, as Principal Investigator of the largest study on Irish migrants to the UK, his work has significantly influenced policy and public discourse, having been presented in the House of Commons and featured in the editorial of The Irish Times.
Dr. Ana Vivas

Ana Vivas has substantial experience in the governance of Ethics in Research at the University level. From 2013-2020 Ana has been a member of the University of Sheffield Research Ethics Committee (UREC), where she had the following responsibilities within this committee:

contributing to shaping the University of Sheffield Ethics in Research Policy and overseeing adherence by staff and registered students who undertake research,

promoting awareness and understanding of research ethical issues among staff and students (e.g., Ana has organised and delivered training in ethics in research to staff members at the institution, and led the development of training and teaching material on ethics in research for UG and PGt students), and
-
to advise on any ethical matters in research referred to it from within the University (e.g., Ana has provided advice and was part of the consultation group for cases of breach of ethics, and complaints from the public/participants).
